Hungary
Independent surveys in 1996 and 1997 indicated that the population is not particularly devout. Only 15 percent of those surveyed considered themselves to be religiously active and closely followed the tenets of their church. The majority, 55 percent, said that they practiced religion in their own way or were nominally religious but not regularly active in their church. Approximately 30 percent said that they were nonreligious.
The Church of the Nazarene began its first congregation in 1998 in Budapest with fourteen charter members. From those early days devout believers have worked tirelessly to promote the Church of the Nazarene in Hungary.
In 2000 the Church of the Nazarene reported 4 congregations with 101 members and an average worship attendance of 120
In 2005 we reported 5 congregations with 125 members and an average worship attendance of 170 |
