The Hajdúhadház Church of the Nazarene in eastern Hungary has a dream to enlarge the kingdom of God by helping to build a better more hopeful life for their community and the surrounding villages. Because the villages are very family-centered, the church began with the children. The churches resources includes workers and enthusiasm. Their efforts include the following:
Partnership with UK Youth
Young people from the British Isles Districts have partnered with Hajdúhadház youth to provide a Vacation Bible School Program for the village children. They also teach English to those who are interested.
Kids' Programs
From the momentum provided by VBS, a regular warm weather Kids' Club now reaches children under the age of 12. 75% of the children attending are not from the church, but from the community.
In order to continue the Kids Club into the winter months, the church has drawn up plans to modify the facility, reducing heating costs, which have been prohibitive. They recently furnished a room to add a coffee bar/fellowship place (top right picture) for the parents of the community children during Kids Club.
Sports Field
Since there are no sport facilities in Hajdúhadház or the surrounding villages, the church wants to add a sports complex in the vacant field on the church property. They have drawn up plans to get the children and youth out of the streets and into the church's back yard. The Hajdúhadház mayor is very supportive.
