This year has started out great for our community! We had the privilege of having the Chamber Singer college choir with in January 16-18 from Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) Boston, USA. The Choir schedule was hectic with services at the Nazarene church in Hajdúhadház, at an orphanage in Téglás and at a local elementary school in Téglás. We used this opportunity to deepen our relationships with a neighboring town, Téglás, where the church ministers.
On the morning of the choirs arrival, the 25 member choir actively participated in special english classes at that elementary school, getting to know the local teens. In the eveing there was a musical event organized by our church and the school. A childrens choir, a choir of teachers and the Chamber Singers gave a wonderful concert. That event was opened by the Mayor of the city of Téglás and the MC was the director of that elementary school. .
Next morning the Choir participated in a youth outreach event at the Hajdúhadház church with more than 60 young people in attendance. In the afternoon we had another concert at the church and we Praise God the a full auditorium. I know that so many people heard the christian testimonies and bowed their heads in prayer for the first time in their lives.
Members of that Choir were hosted in a wonderful way! The Téglás elementary school emphesizes art and languages with an emphasize on English. So when the teens studying English heard about this choir coming, they wanted to host the singers in their homes. This resulted in the teens from school establishing an ongoing realtionships with the singers via facebook. !
We are very thankful for having the opportunity to reach out to the community! We offer a special thank you to Dr. Timothy J. Shetler and Dr. Richard Fish for their leadership!
