2009 Choir Activities Begin
Germany NE

After 4 wonderful weeks in the U.S., I returned to Germany last week and am getting back into the routine of my work here. If you prayed for my trip and time in the States, thank you! It was a very blessed time. My parents are well, for which we are very thankful, and we had such a good time together.

While in the U.S., I flew to Kansas City, where I helped prepare the five singers, who will be coming with the Jazz Band from MidAmerica Nazarene University in May, for the concerts they will do with the Gospel choirs. I also met the band and stayed with Ron and Karen McClellan. Ron is the director of the band. This was a very profitable time. Please pray for these singers as well as for the band and Ron, as they prepare for their tour here in Germany. And pray for the concerts we will be giving with them. May God bless these and use them to help people here to hear more about His existence and love, so that their hearts will be drawn to Him. The Jazz Band will be with us from May 7-11, right at the beginning of their tour.

Also, please pray for the choirs, that as they rehearse for these performances, that the songs we are singing will grip their hearts with their meanings: Nothing is Impossible with God, God is Working, The Name of the Lord, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms (as well as others). All of these songs tell about God's greatness and power, and also of His closeness to us. If only the people in the choirs would reach out to Him---He's already reaching out to them! .

We continually have new people joining the choirs. This is wonderful, but also a challenge---how to integrate them when we are in the middle of the hard work of getting ready for the band's coming? When they come to their first rehearsal, I always ask them if they've ever sung in a choir before. 95% of them never have. The rest sometimes say that they sang in a school choir when they were kids. Almost none of them can read music, nor even know if they'd rather sing high or low, and many of them have never had any English. (Maybe they don't even know what I mean by "high" or "low"!) If they have a lot of courage and determination, they become a part of the choir. Some don't come back after the first or second rehearsal, when they see what hard work it is to learn to sing in a group where not everyone is singing the same part! It is probably new for all of them when, at the end of the rehearsal, I lead in prayer. If they aren't scared away by that, I take it as a good sign. :-)

The ensemble is singing in a small State Church on March 13 for an evangelistic outreach. Please pray for that service, that many people will come and consider the message they will hear--both in song and from God's Word. Pray also for the singers themselves, that they will understand more and more of what they are singing about.

Thanks for your interest in this work and for all your prayer support. God provides for us in every way. May He bless you, too, as you serve Him where you are.

With sincere gratitude,

Linda Psaute
